Dalyan Tour
Dalyan is a small town in the middle of Dalyan Delta in Marmaris, Turkey, and means “fishing weir” stake net in Turkish. Dalyan is located approximately 2.5 hours from Bodrum and is surrounded by natural beauty.
This is a great trip to take if you want to see and do a lot of different things in one day. When You travel from Dalyan to the Iztuzu Beach by boat you can see highly unique rock tombs at the same time you can have a chance to see Blue Crabs and Caretta Caretta Loggerhead sea turtles. After that, you can relax in beautifying mud.
ITINERARY OF THE TOUR
The recommended departure time is 07:30 am. However, you are the boss of the private tours that means you may define your own departure time. So, your professional guide will be ready at the reception of your hotel or agreed meeting point at the agreed time.
There will be approximately 2.5 hours of transfer distance to Dalyan. On the way, you will have a chance to see small Turkish villages, Gökova gulf, pomegranate, olive, and fig gardens. Your guide will give you information about Turkey’s geography, flora, fauna, and Turkish culture on the way.
Kaunian Rock Cut Tombs: Outside Kaunos ancient city walls you can see the Hellenic Kaunian rock-cut tombs along the Dalyan River. Dating back to the 5th through 2nd centuries BCE, the tombs showcase temple-like facades on the steep cliffsides.
İztuzu Beach is a 5 km long beach near Dalyan, in the Ortaca district of the Province of Muğla in southwestern Turkey. The beach is a natural barrier between the freshwater delta of the Dalyan river and the Aegean sea. It is one of the main breeding places for loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) in the Aegean sea and is therefore often named Turtle Beach.
Dalyan mud bath: According to the researches done on mud baths, the mud is good for rheumatism, lower back pain, sciatica, skin, and rickets. Also, sulfur in the mud bath is effective against wrinkles and stretching your skin. For this reason, Dalyan mud bath, beauty mud, or beauty bath is also called. According to the rumors, the Egyptian queen Cleopatra also came to Kaunos to make a mud bath and even owed its beauty to Kaunos mud.
Caretta caretta: Turkey is one of the most important nesting areas of Caretta Caretta in the Mediterranean. In particular, more than half of the population of sea turtles is nesting in Turkey.
Every year at the beginning of summer, Caretta Caretta sea turtles come to lay their eggs on the beach where they hatched, nest between 50-150 eggs by digging
These amazing creatures in our world going back to the beach to lay their eggs every year. Caretta sea turtles visit 20 beaches in Turkey.
